    How does it work?

Sublimation printing is the transfer of an image, applied with sublimation ink onto special paper in reverse. Sublimation printers seem to embed the image into the paper. The image comes out uniform, does not fade or smear. The print is fixed onto the substrate and placed into a heat press. Under high temperatures and pressure, the solid sublimation ink turns into a liquid state, then into a gaseous state, evaporates from the surface of the paper, penetrates into the substrate and solidifies there, forming strong bonds with the particles of the material from which the substrate for sublimation was made.

Sublimation printer - principle of operation

Special sublimation printers are mainly used in large-scale production, as they are designed for large-scale production. They have 3 ribbons with dye applied. There is a heating function. Thus, the ink from the solid state immediately turns into a gaseous state. The image comes out saturated and clear. They can be used on any material: paper, fabric, plastic, glass, metal, ceramics, etc. The biggest drawback of such printers is the high price of the device itself and the substrates for it.

For small businesses, a standard Epson printer is quite sufficient. It is filled with special ink for sublimation and heat transfer. The cost of such equipment is relatively small, so it will quickly pay off.

The main task is to print the selected image on special paper or film. The printer is filled with water-soluble ink, which is maximally absorbed, guarantees a quality and clear image. The appearance of the final product depends on how the primary image was printed.

    How to choose sublimation printers?

    1. They must satisfy the customer's wishes and display the image in the required color gamut. The image must be bright, clear and saturated.

    2. Have a concise, ergonomic design.

    3. The unit should be compact, but designed for increased loads and high speed.

The most popular sublimation printer is considered to be the Epson printer. It is simple and easy to manage, has a long service life, and guarantees high-quality printed images. The color gamut of the image ranges from light and dark tones to shades that the eyes cannot distinguish. In addition to sublimation printing and heat transfer, the printer can also be used for printing photos, documents.

Frequently asked questions about sublimation printers:

Of the three manufacturers of inkjet printers HP, Canon, Epson, only Epson is suitable for sublimation. Epson printers use cold piezoelectric printing technology, while competitors use thermal jet technology. In HP and Canon, the ink is fed to the paper by heating it. It is not suitable for sublimation, as the dye sublimation will occur in the inkjet print head and the ink will become unusable.

As we said, the sublimation printer must be Epson. Epson has a line of several models. The main difference is in the print head. There are six-color printers with a drop size of 1.5 pl, there are four-color printers with a drop size of 3 pl.

So which printer to choose? Definitely four-color with a drop size of 3 pl. Sublimation ink contains a solid dye that is more likely to clog the print head of a printer with a smaller droplet size.

As for quality, we conducted sublimation experiments on two printers. As a result, we concluded that printing on a six-color sublimation photo printer is devoid of any advantages. The quality of the print on the final product in direct comparison is almost the same. But a six-color thermo-sublimation printer will clog much more often.

For printing on cups, t-shirts, etc., we recommend buying an A4 Epson L132 or A3 Epson L1300 sublimation printer with a built-in CIS. There is no need to modify anything in it, since the CIS is installed from the factory. It is only necessary to fill sublimation ink.

Yes, of course. You can buy a sublimation printer on credit and in installments at an excellent price in Ukraine. Two products from Privatbank are available: Payment in installments and Instant installments.
